The ISEMOA Project aims at supporting local authorities and regions towards increasing the energy efficiency in the field of transports by means of an improvement of the accessibility of door-to-door mobility chains, thus offering inhabitants and visitors (including persons with a reduced mobility – PMR) the possibility to adopt a life style which is less dependent to their personal vehicle. Furthermore, an easier access to public spaces and to public transportation will increase quality and attractiveness of the public transportation and will contribute to an increased safety for walking or going by bike. In order to reach this purpose, ISEMOA will set up quality management schemes for a continuous improvement of the accessibility of door-to-door mobility chains at a European level. These quality management schemes are standard processes in the field of the management of the quality through which a municipality, a city or a region may implement (together with an external auditor) the most recent elements in the field of increasing accessibility of public spaces and public transportation an based on such elements the company has the opportunity to develop its own strategies and measures for the continuous improvement of accessibility.
The quality management schemes forwarded within the ISEMOA project will take into account the following:
- the needs of all categories of persons with a reduced mobility (for instance: persons with disabilities, persons with heavy/large luggage, persons with small children, persons with temporary deficiencies etc.)
- the entire door-to-door mobility chain, including walking, going by bike, the public transportation, multi-mode mobility
- all types of barriers (for instance: barriers related to physical conditions, organizational aspects, the attitude of persons etc.)
In order to elaborate these quality management schemes, the ISEMOA project is based on the continuous implication of all relevant entities from the very beginning of the project: the representatives of the persons with a reduced mobility, consultants of municipalities and cities, etc. Furthermore, the development of quality management schemes will be an iterative process, due to the fact that these schemes will be implemented in 15 cities in Europe and they will be adjusted in accordance with the received feed-back. These implementation processes will increase the degree of awareness of the local and regional decision factors in what concerns the correlation between the energetic efficiency in the field of transportation and its accessibility. Moreover, the implementation processes will initiate communication between relevant entities at a local/regional level and will help set up local/regional strategies with the purpose of improving accessibility.
The major objectives of the ISEMOA projects are connected to the transportation energetic efficiency:
- ISEMOA encourages and supports public entities towards offering persons with a reduced mobility the possibility to adopt a life style which is less addicted to their personal vehicle
- ISEMOA encourages and supports public entities towards increasing the accessibility of the public transportation, thus increasing its attractiveness
- ISEMOA encourages and supports public entities towards increasing the accessibility of the public space, thus offering persons with reduced mobility safe conditions for walking or traveling by bike
- ISEMOA supports learning and experience exchanges between practitioners, employees of local authorities and experts, through auditing and joined activities.
Between 11.07 and 29.07.201, volunteer students were placed in Tursib bus stops with a significant volume of passengers, with the purpose of facilitating access on buses for persons with reduced mobility.
