Student subscriptions are travel titles valid for 30 calendar days within the Municipality of Sibiu. They allow an unlimited number of trips during the validity period.

Who is eligible for the student subscription?

Students up to 30 years of age, enrolled in full-time study programmes, regardless of their place of residence, are entitled to free subscriptions for each month of an academic year (internal student subscription, valid within the Municipality of Sibiu), in accordance with Law no. 199/2023, Local Council Decision no. 470/28.11.2023, and the contract for the delegation of the management of public passenger transport services within the territorial area of competence of the Sibiu Metropolitan Transport Intercommunity Development Association, no. 1/23.06.2025.

IMPORTANT!

Starting 3 June 2024, students benefit from free public transport within the Municipality of Sibiu; however, they must pay 90% of the subscription price, namely 81 RON, to Tursib. This amount will subsequently be reimbursed by the faculty. Details regarding reimbursement are established individually by each faculty.

Student subscriptions are loaded onto a Tursib card, issued and personalized free of charge by Tursib.

If the student already holds a Tursib card, the subscription will be loaded onto the existing card.

How to issue and load the student subscription?

The Tursib card can be issued at any of the Tursib agencies or online through the Tursib portal. If you choose the online option, please select, in advance, the agency where you intend to pick up the Tursib card.

Requests for subsequent activation of the student subscription can be made using the same methods, either by visiting the Tursib agencies or online via the Tursib portal.

For both the card issuance and subsequent activations, the following documents are required:

• Identity card (if the identity card is unavailable, the birth certificate/passport will be presented);
• Original certificate from the faculty/student book stamped for the current academic year/student ID stamped for the current academic year (the latter is valid for doctoral students);
• A document proving the name change, if applicable (e.g., marriage certificate).

How to validate the student subscription?

The subscription is validated immediately after boarding by bringing the Tursib card close to the yellow validators on the buses.

In case the route requires using two or more routes, passengers are asked to validate their subscription in each bus they travel on.

How is the student subscription checked?

Subscription checks are carried out by Tursib traffic inspectors, authorized by the Sibiu City Hall.

The check is done by bringing the PVC Tursib card close to either the control devices used by traffic inspectors or the yellow devices on the bus.
